Extension Privacy Notice

Last updated: 26 March 2026

This notice relates specifically to the Rewardo browser extension for Chrome and Microsoft Edge. It supplements our main Privacy Policy, which continues to apply in full. This notice is also surfaced within the extension itself during installation.

1. What the extension does

The Rewardo browser extension is a Manifest v3 Chrome and Edge extension that performs two primary functions:

  1. Award pricing capture: It reads hotel award availability and point pricing data that is displayed on the screen when you browse supported hotel loyalty booking pages, and transmits that pricing data to Rewardo's servers to enrich the community award pricing database.
  2. Balance syncing: When you visit the loyalty dashboard of a supported programme while you are logged in to that programme, the extension can read your points balance, tier status, and expiry date and sync it to your Rewardo account wallet.

A third, optional mode — Worker mode — allows the extension to operate autonomously to collect award pricing data in the background. This mode is described in Section 5.

2. Supported websites

The extension is granted host permissions for the following websites, meaning it may read page content when you visit these domains:

DomainProgramme / SiteData captured
hilton.comHilton HonorsAward pricing from booking pages; balance from account dashboard
ihg.comIHG One RewardsAward pricing from booking pages; balance from account dashboard
hyatt.comWorld of HyattAward pricing from booking pages; balance from account dashboard
marriott.comMarriott BonvoyAward pricing from booking pages; balance from account dashboard
britishairways.comBritish Airways Executive ClubAward pricing from booking pages; balance from account dashboard
americanexpress.comAmerican Express Membership RewardsPoints balance from account dashboard only
virginatlantic.comVirgin Atlantic Flying ClubAward pricing from booking pages; balance from account dashboard
accor.comALL - Accor Live LimitlessAward pricing from booking pages; balance from account dashboard

The extension is inactive on all other websites. It reads data on these websites only when you actively visit the relevant pages, and only for the purposes described.

3. Award pricing capture

When you navigate to a hotel award search results or room selection page on a supported booking website, the extension reads the following fields that are displayed on screen:

  • Hotel name and identifier
  • Loyalty programme name
  • Check-in and check-out dates
  • Room or rate category (for example “standard room” or “points advance”)
  • Points cost per night
  • Cash equivalent price where displayed
  • Availability indicator (available or not available)

This data does not contain any information that identifies you personally. It is the same pricing information visible to any visitor browsing that page. It is transmitted to Rewardo's servers over HTTPS and stored in the community pricing database.

Your display name may be recorded internally against your submission for the purposes of awarding contribution points and detecting data manipulation. This internal record is not visible to other users.

4. Balance reading from dashboards

When you visit the loyalty account dashboard of a supported programme while you are logged in to that programme's website, the extension may read the following information displayed on your dashboard:

  • Points or miles balance
  • Membership tier or status level
  • Points expiry date (if displayed)
  • Programme name and membership number (where displayed)

This data is transmitted to Rewardo and stored in your loyalty wallet, providing your Rewardo account with an up-to-date view of your balances across programmes.

Balance reading is an opt-in feature. You can disable it within the extension's settings popup without uninstalling the extension. Disabling balance reading does not affect award pricing capture.

5. Worker mode (autonomous operation)

The extension includes an optional Worker mode that enables it to operate autonomously to collect award pricing data proactively, rather than only when you manually browse booking pages.

What Worker mode does:

  • Opens hotel booking pages on supported websites in background browser tabs at scheduled intervals
  • Reads award pricing data from those pages and transmits it to Rewardo's servers
  • Closes the tabs after data capture is complete

What Worker mode does NOT do:

  • Interact with your existing browsing sessions or any pages already open in your browser
  • Capture any data from pages you are actively viewing
  • Access any login session, form, or account information on the opened pages
  • Submit bookings or interact with any loyalty programme account

Worker mode is disabled by default. You must explicitly enable it through the extension popup. A visible indicator in the extension icon will confirm when Worker mode is active. You may disable it at any time. Enabling Worker mode is subject to the same consent as installing the extension for data submission purposes.

6. Data transmitted to Rewardo servers

All data transmitted from the extension to Rewardo's servers is sent over HTTPS to the Rewardo API hosted on AWS App Runner (EU/Ireland region). Data transmitted includes:

  • Award pricing data (as described in Section 3)
  • Loyalty balance data (if balance reading is enabled, as described in Section 4)
  • Your Rewardo account authentication token (to associate submissions with your account for contribution points)
  • The URL of the page from which data was captured (used for quality assurance and duplicate detection)
  • A timestamp of the capture

No other data about your browsing activity, bookmarks, or history is transmitted to Rewardo servers.

7. Data we do NOT collect

The extension is specifically designed to collect only the minimum data required. The following data is never collected or transmitted:

  • Your username or password for any loyalty programme website
  • Payment card details, billing addresses, or any payment information
  • Your booking confirmation numbers or reservation details
  • Personal correspondence or messages
  • Data from any website not listed in Section 2
  • Screenshots or images of any page
  • Your full browsing history
  • Device identifiers, IP address, or geolocation data

8. Browser permissions requested

The extension requests the following Chrome/Edge permissions. We explain why each is required:

PermissionWhy it is needed
Host permissions for supported domainsTo read award pricing and balance data from the pages of those specific websites
storageTo store your extension settings (such as whether balance reading and Worker mode are enabled) locally in your browser
tabsRequired by Worker mode to open and close background tabs for automated pricing collection
scriptingTo inject content scripts into supported pages to read on-screen pricing data

9. Data retention

Data captured by the extension is retained in accordance with the main Privacy Policy:

  • Award pricing data: Retained indefinitely in the community cache for trend analysis; stale records (older than 90 days without refresh) are flagged.
  • Loyalty balance data: Retained until you remove the programme from your wallet or close your account.
  • Submission audit records (internal, not visible to other users): Retained for 12 months for fraud detection purposes, then deleted.

10. Your rights

Your rights under UK GDPR (including the right of access, rectification, erasure, and objection) apply equally to data collected by the extension. Please see Section 12 of the main Privacy Policy for full details of how to exercise those rights.

11. How to disable or uninstall

Disabling individual features: You can disable balance reading or Worker mode individually from the extension popup without uninstalling the extension. Award pricing capture during your normal browsing will continue unless you disable the extension entirely.

Disabling the extension: Click the extensions icon in your browser toolbar, find the Rewardo extension, and select “Disable”. When disabled, the extension will not read any data from any website.

Uninstalling the extension:

  • Chrome: Go to chrome://extensions, find the Rewardo extension, and click “Remove”.
  • Edge: Go to edge://extensions, find the Rewardo extension, and click “Remove”.

Uninstalling the extension removes it and all locally stored settings from your browser. Data already transmitted to Rewardo's servers remains in the community database and your account but may be deleted by closing your account or contacting us at privacy@rewardo.travel.

12. Contact

If you have questions about the extension or about how your data is processed, please contact us:
